Canada's First Telehealth Station in Montreal

Revolutionary Health Monitoring Technology Comes to the CLSC de Pierrefonds

Approximately 6 million Canadians don’t have access to a family doctor but now an innovative autonomous health care unit originally designed for space could be the answer to alleviating Canada’s primary care shortage, especially in underserved and remote communities.

The revolutionary unit is being launched on Monday, November 25th, as part of a pilot program at CIUSS Montreal West-Island, with funding provided by the Canadian Space Agency. It integrates our human-centric technology platform called Nüpa which will hopefully become a potential lifeline for the 38% of Montrealers without a family physician.

The main goal: To address preventable diseases and health disparities. Ensuring the wellbeing of astronauts in deep space missions and communities in remote areas on earth.

The platform is also deployed at the Canadian Space Agency in Longueuil QC, where it is undergoing rigorous testing to ensure it can be operated in space. The Canadian Space Agency inspired the creation of this project by encouraging the development of technologies to monitor astronauts’ health remotely through their Health Beyond Initiative.
